Richard Ressler has confirmed that funds will be made available at Norwich City ahead of the January transfer window
Norwich City director Richard Ressler has confirmed that funds will be made available at the club this January, and with the club languishing in the relegation zone, the start of 2026 cannot come soon enough for Canaries supporters and new head coach Philippe Clement.
Having dismissed Danish manager Johannes Hoff Thorup in the latter stages of last season, Norwich City had their sights set on a new person to take the mantle in the Carrow Road dugout, and settled on then Bristol City head coach Liam Manning.
Manning, a boyhood Norwich fan, had just guided the Robins to their first play-off finish in 17 years, and was seen as the perfect fit to lead the Norfolk-based club into the new campaign.
However, after just 17 games, zero points picked up at home, and the club lingering in the relegation zone, Manning was dismissed and has since been replaced by former Monaco and Rangers boss Philippe Clement.
Clement has won one, drawn one, and lost one of his three games in charge so far, as he tries to get to grips with the squad he has been dealt, in what is his first taste of English football in a managerial role.
With the January window just weeks away, Clement will no doubt have one eye on the turn of the new year, and has received a huge boost from the club's director - the aforementioned Ressler.

Norwich director Ressler has confirmed that funds will be made available to Clement this January, as the Belgian manager looks to stamp his authority on the side.
This will come as more than welcome news to Canaries fans, who have seen their squad be ravaged by injuries throughout the campaign, with key players such as Ante Crnac, Jose Cordoba, Jeffrey Schlupp, and Mirko Topic all spending time out in the treatment room, with Crnac and Topic expected to be out for much of the remainder of the season.
On top of the transfer reveal though, the Canaries chief also believes that when most of the current crop of players are fit and available, Clement will be able to get them to work together to move up the table.
Ressler said: "What we can do, and what we can say, is that we're bringing in the strongest players we can.
"We have hopefully the January window to help us. We have some headroom for the January window. We have some what may be the best part of the January window will be us getting our players healthy and back on the pitch that are off.
"So, we have to rely on what we think is a very strong group of leaders on the pitch, and off the pitch behind them, to make the best of what we believe, and what we know was a very expensive team, that we believe has very strong players in it, and if we can get them all healthy and on the pitch and working with a top tier manager, we believe we will work our way out of this."
Ressler was appointed to the Norwich board in August 2024 and is a part of the Norfolk Holdings group, which became the majority shareholder of the club in October 2024.
The American businessman helped oversee the large-scale spending on the squad over the past couple of seasons, bringing in the likes of Mathias Kvistgaarden, Ante Crnac, and Matej Jurasek for well over a combined £20 million alone.

It's likely that in part of the deal that saw Clement join Norwich, he was given assurances that he would be able to spend money in the January window, should he need to.
Most Canaries fans will agree that money does indeed need to be spent, with the club currently four points off safety after 18 games and in real danger of falling into a relegation battle come the end of the season if they are not careful.
Clement has lined up his side in a 4-2-3-1 shape in each of his three games in charge so far, and has used each of Jovon Makama, Forson Amankwah, and Oscar Shcwartau out wide over those three games, each of whom is not their best position.
A winger or two is likely to be high up on the Belgian's shopping list as the window approaches, who must ensure that whatever deals the club does conduct this winter are the correct ones, and not just panic buys. Otherwise, Norwich may well fail to claw their way back up the Championship table and find themselves in financial bother.
