FLW's Norwich City fan pundit has given his view on whether the Canaries should make a move for Arsenal star Max Dowman in January.

It has been an underwhelming start to the season for Norwich City in the Championship.

Norwich were one of the form teams in the Championship in the second half of last season, which led many to consider them one of the promotion favourites heading into this campaign, but they have failed to live up to expectations so far.

Norwich have won just three of their first eight league games this season, and after suffering back-to-back 4-3 defeats to Middlesbrough and Bolton Wanderers prior to the international break, they currently sit 17th in the Championship table, only four points clear of the relegation zone.

Having already lost Ali Ahmed for much of the campaign due to an ACL injury, the Canaries are set to be without striker Mo Toure, who has scored six goals in nine appearances this season, for a number of months after he sustained a shoulder injury, while they are also sweating over the fitness of Andre Brooks after he withdrew from the Jamaica squad last week.

As their attacking options continue to deplete, Norwich may be in the market for reinforcements in the January transfer window, and, according to TEAMtalk, they are among a host of clubs keen on Arsenal forward Max Dowman, along with the likes of Coventry City, Burnley, Wolves, Luton Town, Celtic and Rangers.

Dowman made his debut for the Gunners at the age of 15 years and 235 days last August, and he has continued to be involved in the senior squad this season, scoring a brace in the recent 4-2 victory at Ipswich Town in the EFL Cup, but manager Mikel Arteta is said to be open to the possibility of loaning him out in January.

When asked for his thoughts on a potential move for Dowman, FLW's Norwich City fan pundit Zeke Downes claimed a loan switch to Carrow Road could be beneficial for the 16-year-old's development, as well as giving the Canaries an extra attacking option amid their current injury crisis.

"If this was last week, then I'd have probably said we don't really need him," Zeke told FLW.

"But we've had a few updates in terms of injuries and players withdrawing from squads, which I'm hoping is just a way for them to get back with the squad and get everything right.

"We've not been too good recently and have made a lot of mistakes, and I think Clement is maybe trying to fix those mistakes and make things better, so that could be why they are withdrawing from the squads, but, obviously, we won't know for sure.

"I think that could be a really good move, it would be a good move for Dowman.

"It's not the same style of play as Arsenal, but it would be attacking, which I'm sure he would like.

"I think that could be a really good option, and it would help him and Arsenal out and give us another option in that midfield spot.

"I wouldn't be too unhappy with that."

While he is still in the incredibly early stages of his career, Dowman is regarded as a future star of English football, so he would certainly be an exciting addition for Norwich if they are able to win the race for his signature.

However, with such widespread interest in Dowman, Arsenal will be keen to choose his loan destination carefully, and if he is to make a temporary move to the Championship, the Gunners would surely only consider sending him to a club in promotion contention.

With that in mind, the Canaries will need to climb the table and force their way into the promotion mix over the coming months, but with Clement's men currently sitting in the bottom half, there may be others ahead of them in the queue to sign Dowman.
