Liam Manning's start to life as manager of his boyhood club Norwich City has been tricky, with a 3-2 home defeat to Wrexham meaning he has lost all four of his home games in charge of the Canaries so far.

After guiding Bristol City into the play-off places last season, Norwich boss Manning left the Robins this summer to join the club he had supported growing up, in a move that made sense for both manager and club - much to the dismay of the Robins.

However, it hasn't been the dream homecoming that both Canaries fans and Manning would've hoped for, having lost all four of his games in charge at Carrow Road so far with this weekend's defeat to newly-promoted Wrexham.

There is a silver lining for Manning, however, in that they are yet to be defeated away from home, with three wins and one draw.

But Canaries fans are beginning to grow frustrated in the early stages of this season, and will be hoping to turn around their home form before too long - Football League World's Norwich fan pundit Zeke Downes wants patience to be showed though when it comes to the new manager.

Zeke told FLW: "I don't ever really tend to panic too soon, and unfortunately that's not very common in modern football and in our fanbase.

"There's a lack of patience nowadays, and you can see why because managers get sacked very, very regularly, owners will want change soon and quickly and want results and success is obviously deemed off of winning games, and if you're not winning enough games, then that conversation is had.

"But I think it takes a bit of time for everything to gel, it's only been eight games. I feel like if we were winning the home games and losing the away games rather than the other way around this conversation might not be had.

"It would be like 'Well, it's okay at home and hopefully it will click when we're playing away games', but it's sort of heightened when we are losing every home game, and obviously that's where all of the fans are seeing it, so it's made a lot worse, I think.

"In football, when you're aiming for top six or promotion you're wanting to win your home games and maybe wanting to draw the away games, so there would be a bit of a vision there if we were winning the home games, but obviously we're not.

"It was a little bit worrying against Wrexham, [there were] no real signs of anything.

"If you're going to win your home games, you're maybe going to want to win it against Wrexham, no offence to them - they've obviously just come up from League One, they've not had the best start and defensively haven't been very good.

"But we didn't turn up at all, so conceding three to them is not very good, regardless of the fact that it's not been many games under Manning, but I'm hoping he gets the time to fix it.

"We're in a situation now where we've had four managers after Daniel Farke, and there's hope, at the start, and then [you] sort of lose that hope, and everyone turns on the manager.

"So we don't really want to keep that situation where we keep chopping and changing and not really getting the right fit. It seemed like Manning was the right fit, so I'm hoping there's a bit of patience there and see what could happen because he's brought in a lot of players.

"It will be interesting to see how the next three, four, five games go and see how the ownership deals with this not-so ideal start."

Manning has enjoyed a steady rise throughout his managerial career, having undertaken his first senior managerial job in the Belgian second tier with Lommel SK in July 2020, he moved back to his native England to join League One MK Dons in August 2021.

A spell at Oxford United followed, before earning a shot in the Championship with Bristol City, who he guided to a sixth place finish in the second tier just last season prior to his appointment at Carrow Road.

Although his side would ultimately lose out to Sheffield United over two legs, and in truth they were given a real hammering by the Blades, it was still a remarkable achievement for a club which has historically finished just shy of the top six.

Norwich fans will hope that Manning will turn their home form around before too long, and that he is provided the time to do so, as they look to bounce back from an uninspiring 13th place finish last season.
