Not Certain Celtic Will Sign Star Despite Training Ground Visit | OneFootball

There is no certainty that Celtic will be able to sign Chelsea’s young talent Landon Emenalo, despite the star having visited the Bhoys’ training ground.

Celtic have been looking to bolster their squad as they prepare for the first leg of their Champions League qualifier later this month and hit the ground running domestically.

The Bhoys have already made several attacking signings in the form of Camilo Duran, Kasper Hogh and, most recently, Egypt winger Haissem Hassan.

Celtic have a shortage of cover in the left-back role after they decided not to sign Marcelo Saracchi on a permanent basis.

While a move for former Bhoy Greg Taylor has been floated, Celtic’s search has led to young Chelsea left-back Emenalo.

Emenalo has spent almost a decade developing through the youth ranks of the Blues, currently featuring for the Under-21 squad.

The 18-year-old started for the Stamford Bridge outfit in a club friendly against Western Sydney, featuring for 64 minutes as he tasted senior action.

Celtic have held talks with Chelsea about taking Emenalo north of the border on loan and the left-back was at Celtic’s training ground on Wednesday.

However, according to the Standard, there is no certainty that a deal will be agreed between the Bhoys and the Blues for the 18-year-old.

It remains up in the air whether Emenalo will join Celtic.

Chelsea extended the defender’s contract in March, tying him to the club until June 2031 and underlining the Premier League outfit’s belief in Emenalo’s long-term potential.

A move to Scotland might make sense for Chelsea, but it is unclear how much game time Emenalo would get given Kieran Tierney is Celtic’s first choice left-back.

Fitness permitting Tierney would be expected to play in all Celtic’s major games and that might be a cause of some concern for Emenalo.

Celtic do have time to bring in another left-back, with the window in Scotland open until 3rd September.

The Bhoys are close to another signing in another area of the pitch, with midfielder Mika Baur due to join from Paderborn for a fee of €8m.

Paderborn’s boss admitted Baur is on his way out on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Celtic are looking to further bolster their attack and are interested in Hearts striker Claudio Braga, but face competition from outside Scotland.
