A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona beat out stiff competition to secure the Man of the Match award in the club’s latest outing.

The player in question? Fermín López.

Spanish international Fermín was for his part in from the off once more this evening, as Barcelona kicked their campaign back into gear in a league meeting with Athletic Club.

When all was said and done, the Blaugrana emerged on the right side of a dominant 4-0 result.

A whole host of members of Hansi Flick’s squad shone across the 90 minutes, with Eric García, for one, having been afforded a standing ovation on his way off the pitch.

Lamine Yamal, meanwhile, notched a pair of brilliant assists, teeing up Ferran Torres to bag a brace.

As alluded to above, though, it was midfield starlet Fermín who ultimately clinched Man of the Match honours on the day of the Camp Nou’s reopening.

After netting a goal of his own amid a quality-filled, all-action performance in attacking midfield, the 22-year-old was aptly rewarded with the ‘MVP’ prize:
