FC Bayern has decided against signing Rodrigo Dudok. The Uruguayan attacking player had recently been on trial at the Munich club’s campus for about ten days, with the aim of impressing the German record champions and securing a transfer.

However, according to information from BILD reporter Christian Falk, his performance was not enough to convince Bayern officials to make the transfer. This is reportedly less a matter of doubting the young player’s fundamental potential. Rather, the Munich club currently sees several talented players in its own ranks who are already further along in their development.

“He’s a good player, but at this point, he’s not at the level that FC Bayern Munich requires,” Falk explained.

This means a transfer of Dudok to Munich is off the table for now. According to the report, there are also no plans to reconsider the attacking player anytime soon.

Bayern sees its own talents ahead of Dudok

The decision also provides insight into the standards now required of potential new signings for the Bayern Campus. Talent alone is apparently not enough. External players must evidently also promise to add value compared to the club’s existing youth players.

That is precisely what the club’s decision-makers did not see in Dudok following his tryout. The Munich club has several highly promising players in its youth teams and is increasingly focused on bringing talent from its own academy up to the professional team.

However, the Bayern chapter may not be completely over for Dudok. According to reports, the club wished the Uruguayan much success in his future development. At the same time, there is reportedly the possibility of inviting him back for another tryout at a later date if he has made further progress.

For now, however, Dudok’s career will continue elsewhere. The attacking player is moving to Estrela Amadora in Portugal on loan.

Dudok Joins Bayern’s Partners in Portugal

It is quite interesting that Dudok is continuing his development with Estrela Amadora of all places. The Portuguese club has close ties to FC Bayern.

Estrela’s president is Johannes Mösmang, who himself formerly played for the German record champions. Several well-known former Bayern players—including Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, Yann Sommer, and Lucas Hernandez—are also involved as investors in the Portuguese club.

For Dudok, this now offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience and playing time at a different level. If he develops well in Portugal, he could potentially put himself back on the radar of bigger clubs.
