Nottingham Forest 3-0 Blackburn: trio on target as youngsters catch the eye in Portugal | OneFootball

Nottingham Forest made it two wins from two in pre-season with a 3-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers at the Estadio da Nora in Portugal.

The Reds started fast as Igor Jesus hit the post after an early block, then Morgan Gibbs-White drew a smart header save from Balaz Toth. Matz Sels denied Ryoya Morishita just past the half hour, before Jesus pounced 10 minutes later after Jair Cunha’s driving run caused problems. According to Nottingham Post, Oliver Glasner’s side saw plenty of the ball before the breakthrough.

Glasner again changed his entire XI at half-time and the second unit quickly stretched the lead. Taiwo Awoniyi teed up Arnaud Kalimuendo for 2-0, then finished Eric da Silva Moreira’s cross for the third.

Player ratings highlighted the youngsters and new faces. Cunha, Jesus, Awoniyi and Kalimuendo were each given 7.5, with Eric da Silva Moreira and James McAtee among those on 7.

Back from his Eintracht Frankfurt loan, Kalimuendo is being assessed by Glasner. Frankfurt want him permanently and are trying to negotiate a lower fee after a purchase option in his deal. It remains to be seen how pre-season form translates to the Premier League.

Forest’s forwards have started well, with Jesus and Kalimuendo scoring in both games and Awoniyi also on the scoresheet.
