Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Vitor Pereira on a contract to the end of next season, their fourth manager of the campaign.
The 57-year-old replaces Sean Dyche, who was sacked early on Thursday. According to Nottingham Post, Pereira returns to English football after being dismissed by Wolves in November following 11 months in charge.
Forest sit 17th in the Premier League, three points above the relegation zone, with two wins in their last 10 matches. Since September the dugout has also been occupied by Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Dyche.
Supporters offered a split verdict, some lamenting Evangelos Marinakis’s churn and questioning Pereira’s tactical consistency while hoping he lasts beyond the early weeks. Others highlighted his back-to-back titles with Porto and experience in six countries, urging that he is backed.
Calls for patience stressed that his Wolves stint was hampered by injuries and that time is needed to embed ideas. Several urged him to engage the squad quickly, bring desire and improve set pieces.
There was also fatalism and anxiety, with one comment claiming he had already relegated Wolves and fearing an unwanted Premier League first if Forest slide. Others expressed full backing, asking for smiles, goals and wins, and saw a pivotal week on the training ground.
Some fans were surprised by the contract length and questioned how long he will last. Many simply wished him luck and asked for balance and cohesion from a talented group.
