Nottingham Forest defender Nikola Milenkovic has emerged as a potential ‘new idea’ for Serie A giants Juventus as they assess defensive options.

The Tricky Trees have earmarked Bologna defender Jhon Lucumi as one of their defensive targets this summer, aware it will take around €25m to tempt the Rossoblu into a sale, with Juventus also in the race for his signature.

Bologna are hoping a bidding battle develops for the Colombia international, who is understood to favour a switch to Turin if given the choice.

According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato.it, should a move for Lucumi fail to materialise, Milenkovic has emerged as a ‘new idea’ for Juventus, with the Serbian valued in a similar price range.

The futures of Bremer and Federico Gatti remain uncertain in Turin, prompting the Bianconeri to identify the Nottingham Forest defender as a potential replacement before the transfer window closes.

The 28-year-old has just completed his second campaign at the City Ground after arriving from Fiorentina in 2024, bringing with him extensive Serie A experience.

Last season, Milenkovic played a key role for Forest, making 53 appearances in all competitions and contributing two goal involvements during the club’s Europa League campaign.

After Nottingham Forest finished 16th last season, Juventus can offer the attraction of Europa League football, while Oliver Glasner’s side will focus solely on domestic competitions.

However, Forest are under no pressure to part ways with one of their defensive leaders and have placed a €27m valuation on the Serbian, a figure Juventus would need to meet.

With three years still remaining on his contract, it remains to be seen whether the Italian giants turn their interest into a formal offer.

Forest, meanwhile, have their eyes on defensive alternatives, with Dynamo Kyiv centre-back Taras Mykhavko also on their radar, although they face competition from Everton in the race to secure his signature.
