Nottingham Forest goalkeeper John Victor has undergone surgery on his knee, boss Sean Dyche has revealed.
The Brazilian is now set for a spell on the sidelines following the surgery, however Dyche is soon hoping to welcome back Ryan Yates who has returned to training.
But Chris Wood is still progressing in his recovery from a knee injury.
“Yates has been back on the grass with us, which is good, and has shown no signs of anything other than being recovered,” Dyche said.
“Woody is making slow but sure progress.
“John Victor is injured unfortunately and has had a minor operation on his knee, so he’ll be out for a little bit. We’re not sure on the timescale yet.
The Forest boss will have Willy Boly and Ibrahim Sangaré back available for selection, however, with the duo having returned from the Africa Cup of Nations.
“They’ve come back,” Dyche said. “Nothing too serious, just really recovering from travelling.”
With the January transfer window in full swing, Dyche was also open about his desire to strengthen his Forest squad, including in attack.
“The obvious one is the striker area because we’re a bit short there,” Dyche said when asked where Forest are looking to make additions.
“The club felt that it was a really good deal for Kalimuendo to go out.
“We are looking at various options to bring in. That’s the obvious one that jumps off the page.
“But you’ve got to be ready for the shifting sands of the market. It’s an unusual market, a slightly different market than it is in the summer.
“So we’ve got to be proactive where we can be and reactive if things change.
“I think the club are well aware of that. I had a good meeting with the owner and all the way through the structure about what we think we’ve got, what we think we need, and it’s about getting the deals done. That’s often the hardest part, the actual process of getting the right deal done and getting the players here.”
