Right-back has emerged as a position Oliver Glasner’s side have been intent on addressing, with the Tricky Trees weighing up several options throughout the summer.

The Reds were previously eager to land Givairo Read, lodging multiple bids for the Dutchman, only for Feyenoord to stand firm, forcing Nottingham Forest to abandon that avenue.

Nottingham Forest have also enquired about Crystal Palace star Daniel Munoz, although that pursuit has yet to enter a more concrete stage.

The Tricky Trees are also interested in Javi Rueda, with suggestions that they are prepared to offer more than double his current earnings at Celta Vigo to lure him to the City Ground.

It appears clear they are spinning several plates at once and Dodo has likewise been on their radar since earlier last month, while more recent indications point to La Viola not entertaining his departure easily unless their valuation is met.

The Tuscan outfit are seeking €10m plus bonuses for the Brazilian, who has entered the final year of his contract, although Fiorentina possess an option to extend it by another year.

Now according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport (via Firenze Viola), Nottingham Forest are ‘carefully considering’ the proposal they could submit to the Serie A outfit for Dodo.

The fee itself is unlikely to trouble the Tricky Trees, although whether they are prepared to meet Fiorentina’s demands remains another matter.

Dodo is an established figure in Tuscany and could prove a valuable addition for Nottingham Forest should they succeed in bringing him to the City Ground.

Newcastle United have also monitored the defender this window, although the Magpies ultimately landed Amar Dedic from Benfica to address their right-back concerns.

Meanwhile, the Tricky Trees have decided to shut the door on Nicolo Savona’s departure despite the Italian having suitors, given their need for depth at right-back.

Whether Dodo will be the answer to Glasner’s right-back equation should come into sharper focus in the coming days.
