Millwall, Watford, and Wrexham should be on alert in case Nottingham Forest sanctions Tyler Bindon's exit this summer

Nottingham Forest must make a decision regarding the future of New Zealand centre-back Tyler Bindon this summer, as FLW takes a look at three clubs that should consider moves for the centre-back if he becomes available.

Bindon, 21, began his footballing career in his native New Zealand before moving to Los Angeles at an early age, where he would eventually link up with the LAFC academy.

He'd eventually switch to England in the summer of 2023 with Reading, quickly establishing himself as a regular under Ruben Selles in Berkshire, making 91 appearances for the club across two years.

The Kiwi would agree to join Nottingham Forest in January 2025, before returning to Reading, as last season he would spend the campaign out on loan with Sheffield United in the Championship, making 26 appearances for the Blades, fighting for a place at the back alongside Japhet Tanganga, Mark McGuinness, Leo Hjelde, and Ben Mee.

Now, upon his return to the City Ground, another exit is surely on the cards, as FLW has earmarked three clubs that ought to be in for his signature should it indeed become available.

Millwall

Millwall very nearly managed to secure one of the two automatic promotion places last time around, but were just pipped to the post by Ipswich Town, who finished narrowly ahead of the Lions.

As Alex Neil prepares to attack the top eight once again next campaign, the likes of Tairyk Arconte, Jenson Metcalfe, Mathis Servais, Mark Sykes, Lyndon Dykes, Elkan Baggott, and Danny Batth have joined the club this summer, with the latter two adding depth at centre-back.

Jake Cooper, Caleb Taylor, and Tristan Crama all proved to be brick walls for the South Bermondsey side last season, but with the latter having undergone ankle surgery recently, another option in that area could be required.

With Crama not expected to be out for the entirety of next season, another option in the meantime would be ideal, as Bindon could be a perfect fit.

When called upon, the Kiwi performed admirably under difficult circumstances at Sheffield United last season, and in a side like Millwall, he could thrive.

Although Cooper and Taylor would likely be ahead of him in the pecking order, at least initially, Bindon has the potential to force his way into Millwall's back line, and should be someone Neil must consider making a loan swoop for.

Watford

Both of Watford's starting centre-backs from their final game of last season, namely James Abankwah and Saba Goglichidze, have returned to their parent club Udinese following the end of their loan spells.

This leaves just Matthew Pollock, who was recently named as the new club captain, and Kevin Keben as the club's only two recognised senior centre-backs heading into next season, something incoming boss Alessio Dionisi must surely address.

With Watford having found success in the loan market last year with Max Alleyne, before his premature return to Manchester City, the Hornets should look to explore this avenue again with the addition of Bindon.

The New Zealand international would immediately provide excellent strength and depth in that area at Vicarage Road, and would be more than capable of forcing his way into Dionisi's starting XI.

Watford likely doesn't have an abundance of funds to play with this summer, and a loan swoop for Bindon, who could immediately improve their starting XI, would be an ideal fit, and one they simply must explore.

Wrexham

Wrexham have endured a quieter summer than what they are typically used to, with just Danny Imray joining from Crystal Palace for around £5 million, whilst Ben Whitman arrives in North Wales from Preston North End for roughly £3 million.

Phil Parkinson's side have rarely ever been afraid to spend whenever the opportunity arises, with the likes of Callum Doyle having joined for as much as £7.5 million just last summer into the back line.

Alongside Doyle competing for a place in one of the three centre-back positions at the Racecourse Ground are Max Cleworth, Dom Hyam, Dan Scarr, Lewis Brunt, and Zak Vyner.

This position, aside from Doyle, has had the least amount of money pumped into it in the Wrexham squad, and whilst Bindon wouldn't cost a fee, his addition would certainly elevate levels there.

The Kiwi largely featured in a back four during his time with Sheffield United, but likely wouldn't struggle to adapt to a back three if required.

He would be able to link up with compatriot Liberato Cacace too, as the pair could rekindle their relationship from the World Cup in Wrexham, as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney should be on the phone and getting this deal over the line ASAP.
