Nottingham Forest are exploring a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Jose Sa as the January deadline approaches. The Reds have until 7pm on February 2 to add to Sean Dyche’s squad.

According to the BBC, talks have taken place over a possible move for the 33-year-old. Sa has emerged as a target in the final days of the window.

Matz Sels has re-established himself as first-choice under Dyche after briefly losing his spot to summer signing John Victor, who is now sidelined following knee surgery. With John out, Angus Gunn is currently the back-up, and earlier this season he admitted he would consider his options to secure minutes.

Forest have tracked Sa before, including prior to Sels arriving in the winter of 2024. The Portuguese is familiar to the club hierarchy, having moved from fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned Olympiacos to Molineux in 2021.

This season Sa has made 12 appearances for Wolves, with Rob Edwards’ side bottom of the Premier League on eight points. Forest are due to host them at the City Ground on February 11.

Sa is not the only Wolves player of interest, with forward Jorgen Strand Larsen also admired. After signing Lorenzo Lucca on loan from Napoli last week, Forest have targeted another striker and have submitted an offer for Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta.
