Nottingham Forest eyeing £55m move for Man City’s Tijjani Reijnders | OneFootball

Nottingham Forest are exploring a sensational move for Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, according to the Daily Mail.

Forest boss Oliver Glasner is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new Premier League season in hopes they avoid another relegation battle.

The Netherlands international has emerged as a £55 million target for Forest, who are keen to add more quality and experience to their midfield options.

Reijnders is reportedly open to the possibility of leaving the Etihad, with the prospect of securing a more prominent first-team role pushing him.

The 28-year-old only joined City last summer in a £46.5m deal from AC Milan, but his debut campaign did not go according to plan.

While he made 47 appearances across all competitions, a significant number of those came from the bench, and he was often deployed in a deeper midfield role that did not suit his preferred style.

Despite struggling to adapt to the demands of Pep Guardiola’s system and the intensity of English football, Reijnders still produced impressive numbers.

He scored seven goals and registered eight assists during his first season at the club.

Before moving to Manchester, Reijnders had developed a reputation as one of Europe’s finest midfielders during his spell at Milan.

His performances in Serie A saw him regarded as one of the most complete players in his position, combining technical ability, attacking instincts and the ability to drive forward from midfield.

Atletico Madrid had previously shown interest in the Dutchman earlier in the transfer window, but they cooled their pursuit after being put off by City’s £60m valuation.

Manchester City would make a quick profit on Reijnders should they sanction a departure, with the club already planning other midfield reinforcements.

Meanwhile, Forest continue to work on a deal for Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande and remain in the race for Chelsea striker Liam Delap.
