Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks with Chelsea to sign striker Liam Delap, with negotiations progressing. Forest are in pole position to land the 23-year-old.

According to NY Times, Chelsea favour a permanent sale and value Delap at around £50 million.

Delap has been training away from the first-team group and was not involved in the 3-2 win over Fulham tonight.

Chelsea paid £30 million to sign him from Ipswich a year ago, but an injury-hit first season yielded one goal from 12 starts and 16 substitute appearances in the Premier League.

He has five years left on the contract he signed in June 2025 and has represented England at youth level, including under-21s.

Forest head coach Oliver Glasner wants a striker and a wing-back before deadline day, and said he is even more confident than on Saturday that the two signings will arrive before the window closes.

Delap’s mobility, pressing and runs in behind fit Glasner’s 3-4-2-1, creating space for the two No 10s.

Forest remain confident in Chris Wood, while Igor Jesus scored five goals in pre-season. They have already added defender Ousmane Diomande for £35m from Sporting CP and free agent Xaver Schlager in midfield.
