Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Liverpool left back Konstantinos Tsimikas, according to The Athletic.

Forest could do with more left-back options, and Nuno Espirito Santo has identified Tsimikas as an ideal candidate to bolster that position.

Tsimikas is valued at £15.5 million on Transfermarkt, but it remains to be seen if Forest can convince Liverpool to negotiate a lower fee.

The Tricky Trees might face serious competition from newly promoted Leeds United, who are also interested, but Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have the upper hand.

Forest can offer Tsimikas Europa League football after taking Crystal Palace’s place in Europe’s second-tier tournament thanks to UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules.

The Greece international has been made surplus to requirements and is set to leave Liverpool this summer.

Tsimikas was left out of Liverpool’s squad for their FA Community Shield defeat against Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

He was heavily involved with Arne Slot’s squad during pre-season, but he would struggle to get a look in this coming season following the arrival of Milos Kerkez.

The Hungarian left back joined Liverpool from Bournemouth in a £40 million deal earlier this summer.

He was touted as a long-term successor to club legend Andrew Robertson, who was strongly linked with a move to Atletico Madrid over the course of the summer.

However, it appears Tsimikas may eventually be the one to make way. The 29-year-old joined Liverpool from Olympiacos back in the summer of 2020.

He went on to make 115 appearances for the Reds, returning 18 assists. He played 66 times in the Premier League, so he has sufficient experience under his belt.

It remains to be seen if Forest will act on their interest, but he could be a fantastic addition to the squad.

Forest have been busy this summer, bolstering the squad with the addition of Angus Gunn, Dan Ndoye, Igor Jesus, and Jair Cunha.
