Nottingham Forest ‘leading the race’ for £25m Marc Casado, new Erling Haaland prospect linked | OneFootball

Nottingham Forest are set to fine-tune Oliver Glasner’s squad in the final week of the window, with fresh links to Barcelona’s Marc Casado and Nigerian teenager Abdoulaye Agbejoye. The deadline is 11pm on September 1.

TEAMtalk claims Forest are ‘leading the race’ for Casado after earlier interest resurfaced, while Sport Witness relays Spanish reports that the 22-year-old remains on their radar.

Sport Witness also says Benfica, AC Milan and an unnamed Turkish club are monitoring him, and that Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli have lodged offers around €40 million (£34m). Barcelona are said to want at least €30m (£25m) and to be urgently seeking a sale. The midfielder is thought to prefer staying in Europe.

TEAMtalk adds that contact has been made with Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion and Sunderland. He is under contract until 2028 and is keen on regular football.

Forest had targeted midfield earlier, with Xaver Schlager arriving early in the window. Glasner has since indicated James McAtee can play deeper, tempering that search.

Soccernet reports that 18-year-old Agbejoye, compared to Erling Haaland, is on Forest’s radar after impressing with Nigerian academy side Grassrunners.

Forest are said to be frontrunners and could go head to head with Bayer Leverkusen for the striker, with a move to Europe described as imminent. He is viewed as a long-term project and could be loaned out if a deal is struck.
