Robertson was central to Brian Clough’s late 1970s side, lifting the First Division in 1978 then the European Cup in 1979 and 1980.

He started the 1979 final against Malmö in Munich and delivered the cross for Trevor Francis to score the winner.

A year later in Madrid, Forest retained the trophy against Hamburg, Robertson scoring the only goal with a low 20th-minute strike.

Capped 28 times by Scotland, he was in the squads for the 1978 World Cup in Argentina and the 1982 finals in Spain.

He made 502 appearances for Forest, scoring 95 goals, and later coached alongside Martin O’Neill at Celtic and Aston Villa.

In a 2019 NottinghamshireLive poll, he was voted the club’s greatest player by a landslide.
