According to Teamtalk, the ex-Atalanta boss is on the Reds’ radar following their decision to part ways with Sean Dyche on Wednesday evening.

A 0-0 draw at home to Wolves proved the final straw for owner Evangelos Marinakis, who is readying his fourth permanent managerial appointment of the season.

The Premier League side have previously been coached by Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Dyche this term, with the team at risk of relegation to the Championship following a messy season at the City Ground.

Juric was in charge of the Saints last season, and he oversaw a miserable run of form that concluded with two wins in 16 games and 20th in the top flight table after succeeding Russell Martin.

Nottingham Forest have been contacted by Juric’s agent regarding a potential move to the City Ground following Dyche’s dismissal.

Vitor Pereira has also emerged as a possible option, with former Juventus manager Igor Tudor also believed to be in the frame.

The Premier League side will be looking to stave off relegation this season, with the team now just three points clear of an in-form West Ham side, who occupy the final spot in the bottom three.

But Southampton supporters will be surprised to see Juric’s name mentioned at a top flight club after his disastrous spell at St. Mary’s last season.

The Croatian took over a side that had already struggled for form in the league under Russell Martin, but he failed to make any kind of impact and he lasted just four months at the helm.

The Saints now find themselves seeking promotion back to the Premier League under Tonda Eckert, with the side ninth in the Championship table and just one point outside the play-offs.

Ivan Juric appointment should be avoided by Nottingham Forest

Southampton fans will be able to tell Nottingham Forest why the appointment of Juric should be avoided.

He struggled to implement any kind of distinct style of play, and results and performances reflected that.

The 50-year-old’s next job at Atalanta even lasted one game fewer than his time at St. Mary’s, with the Serie A club opting for a change after just 15 fixtures.

If the Reds opt for the appointment of Juric, then Forest will find themselves at serious risk of having their time in the top flight come to an end after just four seasons, and just a year after coming seventh.
