Reports from Sky Sports, citing information from the Daily Mail, indicate that Nottingham Forest are currently “leaning towards sticking with boss Ange Postecoglou for now”. It is understood that the Australian’s chances of remaining in charge for Forest’s upcoming home clash against Chelsea are improving, despite enduring a seven-game winless run since taking over less than a month ago.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is said to be considering his next move carefully. Postecoglou himself has confirmed he expects formal talks over the international break, stating that discussions are likely to take place about the poor run of form.
“The ex-Tottenham boss, appointed at the City Ground less than a month ago, is already facing an uncertain future,” reported Sky Sports. The precarity of his position underlines the urgency for results when club football resumes.

Sources suggest that Marinakis is reluctant to sack Postecoglou immediately, with the understanding that dismissing a manager so soon could reflect poorly on the club’s long-term planning. However, it is also claimed that Marinakis remains “a strong admirer of Fulham boss Marco Silva, who worked for him at Olympiakos”. The issue is financial rather than personal, as “to hire Silva now would cost Forest a hefty compensation package”, given the Portuguese coach is under contract until the end of the season.
There is an argument that Forest are opting for patience due to cost rather than conviction. Seven games without a victory is concerning, regardless of circumstances, and the upcoming fixture against Chelsea suddenly carries more weight than many would have expected when Postecoglou arrived.
One insider joked “he may already be managing for his job before he has unpacked his suitcase”. If results fail to improve swiftly, that delay may simply be postponing a change that feels inevitable.
The Chelsea clash could represent a line in the sand. A positive performance would strengthen the case for stability, while another poor showing could accelerate talks with alternative candidates such as Silva or other available coaches waiting for Premier League openings.
Financially, sacking Postecoglou costs less than poaching Silva. Football decisions are rarely about logic alone, though. Marinakis has shown previously that he is willing to act swiftly when conviction takes over.
From a Nottingham Forest fan perspective, this whole situation feels like déjà vu. How many times do we go through this cycle of panic appointments and uncertain leadership? Ange Postecoglou was brought in barely a month ago, and already we are talking about whether he will survive the Chelsea game. What kind of message does that send to the players? Or the supporters?
If Marinakis is already eyeing Marco Silva, then surely the club is preparing for another upheaval. Supporters can accept failure if there is a plan, but right now it feels like we are just stumbling from one decision to the next. One minute we hear Ange is trusted, the next we hear Silva is lined up. It is chaos.
The truth is, Forest need stability more than ever. Sack him now or back him properly, but do not leave him dangling like this. Players sense weakness, and when a manager is already being written about as temporary, performances drop. If Ange beats Chelsea, what then? Is he safe for one more week? That is no way to run a Premier League club. Fans are tired of headlines. We just want clarity, commitment, and a manager who is allowed to work without looking over his shoulder.
