According to The Athletic, Nottingham Forest are closing in on the signing of Ousmane Diomande from Sporting CP. The £34.3m deal is being finalised, with a medical planned today before a proposed five-year contract.
Diomande joined Sporting from Midtjylland in January 2023 and made 132 appearances for the Portuguese side. The 22-year-old featured at the World Cup and is an international team-mate of Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.
Sporting head coach Rui Borges said on Friday he had no concerns, calling transfer noise normal at the club and confirming Diomande remained in the squad.
Forest have already signed Xaver Schlager on a free transfer from RB Leipzig as new head coach Oliver Glasner begins reshaping his group at the City Ground.
Glasner is believed to be targeting four further additions, with a midfielder, a centre-back, a right-back and a striker on the list. The club are also in advanced talks with Neco Williams and Sangare over new contracts.
Last month, Glasner said the market had started slowly and that deals require all parties to agree. He added that Forest are preparing new signings, are confident of securing the right profiles they have identified, and accept there is still work to finalise moves.
