Willy Boly has been left out of Nottingham Forest’s revised Premier League and Europa League squads because of a knee injury, with Sean Dyche explaining the need to freshen the group. As reported by Nottingham Post, the 35-year-old is out of contract in the summer and may have played his last game for the Reds.

The centre-back has not featured since September, when he came on against Real Betis in the Europa League. He was omitted from the 25-man Premier League list after the winter window and was also not named for the Europa League knockouts.

Dyche said Boly had been trying to manage the knee issue but it was proving too much, so he is now recovering. He praised the defender’s character and professionalism and said their conversations had been open.

Striker Chris Wood was included in both squads after knee surgery at the turn of the year, despite being out since October. Dyche said they are hopeful he might play before the end of the campaign, with progress moving in the right direction and a specialist check-up due, possibly tomorrow.

Forest host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday at 7.30pm in a key game in their survival fight. They face Fenerbahce later this month in a two-legged Europa League play-off for a place in the last 16.
