Nottingham Forest have submitted planning applications for the updated City Ground redevelopment. The club said in a statement that the project represents significant investment by owner Evangelos Marinakis.

The plan sets out a sustainable, iconic design and positions the stadium as a driver of economic growth for the city and wider region. There has been strong public engagement, and partners Gleeds, KSS Design Group, Buro Happold and Savills were thanked. The club aims to work with the East Midlands Mayor, Rushcliffe Borough Council, Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council, alongside supporters and the wider community.

Forest first revealed redevelopment ambitions in 2019. Almost seven years on, they hope Marinakis’ long-held desire for a larger home will soon be realised.

A previous scheme to increase capacity was approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council last summer, but the revised vision proposes a substantially larger expansion. Supporters viewed the latest proposals at drop-in sessions at the stadium last month.

Under the updated plans, capacity could reach 52,000, with an initial target of 45,000. If approved, enabling works are due to begin this summer, ahead of construction in 2027.
