Nottingham Forest enter the final stretch of the window, which shuts at 11pm on one September, with Oliver Glasner’s plan unchanged and two signings targeted.

Forest were beaten 1-0 by Leeds United on Saturday, yet Glasner signalled no change and said he did not expect an arrival before Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie with Leeds. According to Nottingham Post, two additions in two positions remain the focus.

Midfield had been a priority after Elliot Anderson’s exit. Xaver Schlager arrived, Lucas Bergvall was assessed, but James McAtee impressing in a deeper role during pre-season and against Leeds at the weekend, together with a switch to a back three, eased the urgency. With Schlager, Nico Dominguez, Ryan Yates and Ibrahim Sangare also in contention, replacing Anderson is no longer target number one.

That leaves a striker and a right-back at the top of the list, both central to the wing-back model Glasner is bedding in, which asks for energy on the flanks.

Fiorentina’s Dodo has been heavily linked, with suggestions an agreement is edging closer and only financial details to settle. The Italian side are understood to want €12m, slightly above the €10m Forest favour, and with the Brazilian surplus to requirements a middle ground has been suggested.

Up front, Forest want a tall, powerful forward with pace and mobility, and Glasner values runners in behind. Chelsea’s Liam Delap is on the radar, with Everton and Leeds also linked, and a price of up to £50m has been cited.

Some fringe players could move out as Glasner prefers a small squad, with loan calls to be made on Zach Abbott, Tyler Bindon and Eric da Silva Moreira. Quality over quantity has been the mantra.
