Nottingham Forest are claimed to be “very close” to an agreement with Fiorentina for right-back Dodo. Per Viola News, talks over a definitive deal are approaching a conclusion.

The Reds have until 11pm on September 1 to finalise business, having already signed Xaver Schlager, Ousmane Diomande and Steven Benda. They want two further additions, a right-back and a striker, and have pursued Dodo for some time.

Earlier indications put Forest’s offer at €10 million, with a contract to 2030 discussed. The report says Fiorentina want €12m for the 27-year-old, slightly above the €10m figure, and that a compromise should be straightforward.

Dodo has 12 months left on his deal, so Fiorentina are keen to cash in now rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer. He moved from Shakhtar Donetsk four years ago and has made more than 100 league appearances in Italy.

Forest already have a sizeable Brazilian core in John Victor, Murillo, Morato, Jair Cunha and Igor Jesus.

After Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Leeds United, head coach Oliver Glasner said he did not expect any arrivals for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie. He added the club are working hard on two signings in different positions.
