According to the Daily Mail, Nottingham Forest are weighing up a move for Everton striker Beto.

It has been a quiet start to the window for the Reds, with midfielder Xaver Schlager the only signing so far.

Further activity is anticipated as new head coach Oliver Glasner looks to bolster his squad, with centre-back Ousmane Diomande expected to join from Sporting Lisbon and a second bid said to have gone in for Feyenoord full-back Givairo Read.

Beto joined Everton on a four-year deal in summer 2023, in a transfer reportedly worth €30 million (£25.6m) from Udinese.

The 28-year-old Guinea-Bissau international has made 111 appearances and scored 25 goals for the Merseyside club.

Last season, Igor Jesus led the line while Chris Wood was sidelined for a lengthy spell. Jesus scored 16 in all competitions, including seven in the Europa League.

The Premier League was trickier for Jesus, and he often looked more comfortable as a No 10 once Wood returned from a serious knee injury.

Glasner also has Taiwo Awoniyi and Arnaud Kalimuendo available, with Eintracht Frankfurt keen to sign Kalimuendo permanently after his loan.

After Wednesday’s 3-0 pre-season win over Blackburn Rovers, Glasner declined to share targets, noting prices can be high and naming names may inflate them. He said Forest are assessing profiles they lack and, if the right options are found and make sense, they will try to complete them, while keeping ambition high.
