Nottingham Forest win approval for City Ground revamp and 45,000 capacity plan | OneFootball

Nottingham Forest have been granted permission to redevelop the City Ground, a landmark moment for the club.

According to Nottingham Post, Rushcliffe Borough Council’s planning committee approved the plans this evening, almost seven years after Forest first set out to modernise their home.

The revised scheme differs markedly from the version approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council in summer 2025. The initial phase will lift capacity from roughly 30,000 to 45,000 by extending the Peter Taylor Stand and infilling both Trent End corners.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis ultimately aims for around 52,000 seats via a Brian Clough Stand expansion, which received outline approval at the same meeting.

The vote marks a significant step in Marinakis’ wider vision. Supporters began reacting online earlier in the night after the Peter Taylor Stand element passed, ahead of outline consent for the Brian Clough Stand.
