Nottingham Forest’s Murillo will miss Friday’s trip to Sunderland with a muscle injury and is likely to sit out at least the first leg of the Europa League semi-final against Aston Villa.

According to NY Times, Vitor Pereira said the centre-back will play again this season, though he remains a doubt for next week. He confirmed Murillo is out tomorrow, described it as a muscle issue and said he cannot predict a return date, adding it could be more than one game.

Forest are aiming to extend their unbeaten run to eight games. Victory would move them eight points clear of Tottenham Hotspur, who occupy the final relegation place, before they play at Wolves on Saturday.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is also sidelined after surgery on Tuesday to repair a quadriceps injury. Pereira said he is fine after the procedure and stressed the priority is a full recovery so he returns at his previous level, with full training expected in pre-season.

Jair Cunha is the leading candidate to replace Murillo at Sunderland, while Morato or Zach Abbott are alternative options.
