Novorizontino have settled on a plan but are keeping quiet over whether Rômulo will feature against Palmeiras on Sunday, a game he can play only if a R$ 1 million clause is met.
According to Globo.com, the club are expected to cover the fee to have their playmaker available on Sunday.
After a 1-0 defeat in Barueri in the first leg, the club adopted silence. Head coach Enderson Moreira offered only a generic response post-match and there have been no further news conferences.
The hush is also seen as protection from extra pressure should he play. The secrecy may hold until line-ups are released an hour before kick-off, as Novorizontino do not usually publish their squad in advance.
The sum is heavy for Novorizontino, yet the opportunity is unique, with a first major title in reach and prize money higher than for the runners-up.
The clause sets no date or time limit for payment, which can even be made after the match. Inside Palmeiras, his selection was already regarded as certain and the club expect the payment at any moment.
The No 10 has six goals and three assists in nine appearances in 2026. He has missed three games, both meetings with Palmeiras and the most recent round against Bragantino.
Palmeiras, 1-0 up from Barueri, need a draw to secure the 27th state crown. Novorizontino must win by at least one to take it to penalties. Kick-off is 20:30 on Sunday at Estádio Jorjão, Novo Horizonte.
