Kylian Mbappe’s numbers this season are mind-boggling by any standards, as the Real Madrid forward has been scoring goals for fun across all competitions.

His fine form continued midweek when he scored four goals past Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League, taking his tally to 22 goals this season already.

While the Frenchman has indeed been effective in front of goal, a large part of the credit for his numbers goes to his teammates who have assisted him and helped him reach such a record. As relayed by AS, Vinicius Jr. has been critical on that front.

One of Mbappe’s best partners

Vinicius assisted two of Mbappe’s four goals against Olympiacos this week, and in the process, became the Frenchman’s second-most effective partner this season.

Arda Guler still leads on that front as he has assisted Mbappe seven times this season. Vinicius is not too far behind and has assisted the French ace four times, meaning that the duo have assisted half of the player’s 22 goals so far this season.

Despite playing together for just a year and a half, the 26-year-old forward is already the player Vinicius has given the second-most assists to in his career.

The Brazilian has helped set him up for goal ten times, and has only given more to Karim Benzema (25 assists).

In turn, Vinicius is the player from whom Mbappe has received the fourth most assists in his career with only Neymar Jr, Angel Di Maria and Lionel Messi exceeding him in that respect. Guler is fifth with nine despite playing far less with Mbappe than Vinicius.

Despite all the controversy he has been involved in, the season has largely been a positive one for Vinicius as he is the Real Madrid player with the second most assists at six. Only Guler with seven is placed better.

The coming months will be decisive in shaping the Brazilian’s season, especially given how he is reportedly unhappy with Xabi Alonso at the helm.

Needless to say, a period of good form and continuity will go a long way in helping him change the way he sees his future and the team.
