Nicolas Jackson will not be staying at Bayern Munich after the conclusion of his loan, and there is discussion about what’s next.
Pete Rutzler’s piece in the Times last night brought a storyline that has been simmering beneath the surface back to the top of our minds.
It’s been clear for a while that Nicolas Jackson won’t be joining Bayern Munich permanently. The striker’s loan there has not gone well, and the purchase fee is massive. So the question is – what’s next?

Rutzler’s piece claims that a return to the first team picture at Stamford Bridge is even possible.
Bobby Vincent’s piece for Football.London today has more detail. He backs up the notion that Jackson could be reintegrated to the Blues’ first team picture.
“Jackson had his difficulties with former head coach Enzo Maresca and wanted to depart the west London club,” he wrotes.
It still seems like a departure would make more sense, but then a buyer would have to be found at a good price. As it stands, it’s hard to know who would pay Chelsea what they want. Vincent writes “there are numerous clubs from Spain, Italy and elsewhere in the Premier League with a keen interest in Jackson and are understood to be keeping a close eye on his situation,” and we’re sure that’s true, but who would actually be able to put the right sort of money on the table for us?
Joe Cole’s thoughts about Nottingham Forest defender Murillo have come back to the surface after rumours about the Blues’ interest in signing him returned too.
Chelsea have drawn Wrexham in the FA Cup fifth round, a really fun and interesting draw – but one we have to win.
