Darwin Nunez reflected on a bruising stint at Al-Hilal after scoring twice for Al-Diriyah against Al-Ittifaq in the Roshn League’s fourth round on Saturday.
"First, I am very happy with my return to football. The past six months at Al-Hilal were very difficult for me and for my family, because I was unable to play matches." He told Thmanyah.
Nunez joined Al-Hilal in summer 2025 to high expectations but never nailed down a starting berth. His minutes dwindled and, around six months later, he was sidelined and moved to the Asian list, then the new season pushed him further from Simone Inzaghi’s plans. He left on loan to Al-Diriyah in search of game time, and this reset began with that brace.
"And honestly, I do not wish for anyone to go through an experience like mine, because in the end all of us as players want to compete, to play, and to enjoy what we do,"
"Now I have moved past that difficult period. I thank my family because they stood by my side and did not allow me to fall during that difficult time, but I always say: after the storm, the sun will rise."
