Former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez wants to make a return to the Premier League this summer.
Nunez is in talks with Al-Hilal over a contract termination just 12 months on from his £45m move to the Saudi Pro League side.
The Uruguay international scored nine times in 24 appearances, but was unceremoniously removed from the SPL squad for the second half of the season, amid foreign player rules, following the signing of Karim Benzema.
As a result, the two parties are negotiating an exit and potential cancellation of his contract. Nunez’s availability as a free agent has alerted clubs and Mundo Deportivo are reporting that the forward has his heart set on a Premier League return.
Liverpool have been linked with a shock move to re-sign Nunez, with Hugo Ekitike sidelined by injury until the new year. Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have also been linked with Nunez, who scored 40 goals in 143 games during his first spell in England.
The 26-year-old is currently with the Uruguay squad at this summer’s World Cup, with the South Americans set to face Saudi Arabia, Cape Verde and Spain in the group stages.
