Nuno Espirito Santo will remain head coach of West Ham United despite relegation, meaning Wolves are set to face their former boss in 2026/27.

The club said in a statement that Nuno has committed to the job and is motivated to take West Ham straight back up. It described promotion as the clear objective for next season and highlighted his 99-point Championship title with Wolves in 2018.

Some Wolves supporters had hoped for his return to Molineux, but that prospect is off for now.

Keeping Nuno could strengthen West Ham’s automatic promotion hopes, with Wolves well aware of his record in the division.

Rob Edwards is set to oversee a significant summer and lead Wolves into the new season, and the hope is he can take them back to the Premier League at the first attempt. After the way the last campaign ended, making a fast start will be important.

There may be no Nuno reunion this summer, although Raul Jimenez has recently suggested he could be open to a move back.
