Nuno Mendes says Portugal would welcome Cristiano Ronaldo return | OneFootball

Nuno Mendes said Portugal would welcome Cristiano Ronaldo back, stressing unity after a 2-1 win over Norway in the fourth round of the UEFA Nations League.

According to Goal.com, it was a second victory over Norway that tightened Portugal's grip on the group, but questions persist over Ronaldo. He has been absent since a recent fallout with head coach Jorge Jesus and his exit from the national team camp.

After the match, Mendes said: "It is natural that we welcome any player. We are happy with the results we have achieved, and if Cristiano returns, we will receive him with open arms and we will be very happy to have him with us."

The Paris Saint-Germain full-back added that whether it is Ronaldo or any other absentee, everyone is welcome to rejoin the team. He repeatedly stressed unity and rejected talk of a split in the dressing room.

Portugal continue to produce in the Nations League, yet Ronaldo's international future remains the story to watch. There is no clear date for the captain's return.
