Ethan Nwaneri's tackle became the main talking point of Marseille v Rennes in the Coupe de France last 16 on Tuesday night.

L'Équipe notes the incident has sparked debate over whether he should have been sent off.

Marseille had gone in front in the second minute through Amine Gouiri, who pounced on Rennes defensive errors.

In the 22nd minute, Nwaneri, on loan from Arsenal, caught Glen Kamara from behind with a late challenge at ankle height.

The referee played advantage, then brought play back and issued only a yellow card. VAR is not in use at this stage of the competition.
