Job Ochieng is one of La Real’s early-season revelations, sitting third for La Liga assists on four. He trails Anthony Gordon and Javi Hernández on five, and is level with Lamine Yamal despite playing three fewer matches.

According to Diario Vasco, the Nairobi-born winger has forced his way into the txuri-urdin front line in his first top-flight year. His runs into space and direct finishing are giving Pellegrino Matarazzo extra depth in the final third.

His rise followed a slow start after arriving in February 2022, when injury restricted him to 299 minutes for Real C, then modest game time with Sanse in Primera RFEF. He burst in Segunda, deciding Zaragoza 1-0 at Anoeta, scoring in November against Leganés, then hitting six in five in February.

Once Matarazzo came in, Ochieng was called up against Barcelona on 18 January, then Athletic and Celta, before debuting versus Elche in a 3-1 home win. He signed through 2028 in late February and started at Cornellá on the final day, involved in the 1-1 goal.

This season he started at the Bernabéu, where his run beyond Konaté produced the deflected effort for Sucic’s equaliser, then starred at Elche with a volleyed opener and two assists, and at Mestalla with a backheel for 0-1. In only 235 minutes, he has one goal, four assists and nine shots, averaging an assist every 58 minutes, ahead of Gordon on 79, Javi Hernández on 112 and Lamine Yamal on 145.
