Sevilla returned to training on Tuesday, the day after another heavy defeat at Barcelona. Odysseas Vlachodimos did not work with the group, completing a gym session instead.

AS reports that the goalkeeper’s absence was for load management and that he should be fine for Saturday’s survival clash with Valencia at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. The Greek has become a cornerstone for Almeyda’s side.

César Azpilicueta trained on the grass at the Ciudad Deportiva, despite not playing a minute at the Camp Nou. The Navarrese defender is also crucial for a back line that keeps conceding. He seems over his recent muscle problems and looks likely to feature at right-back or in central defence against Valencia.

Rubén Vargas completed the session well. After his first 45 minutes in Barcelona following more than two months out, it remains to be seen whether Almeyda finds him a place in the next starting XI.

The squad were given Monday off after the Camp Nou reverse.
