Andrew Omobamidele (24) has joined RSC Anderlecht on loan until the end of the season. The Republic of Ireland international captained RC Strasbourg Alsace just one week ago.

There has been plenty of movement at Strasbourg in recent days, including on transfer deadline day. Ben Chilwell notably left the club in order to join Crystal Palace. And whilst the transfer window is now shut in France, that is not the case everywhere. The window is notably still open in Belgium and Omobamidele has now joined Anderlecht.

The centre-back had started both of Strasbourg’s first two games of the season. He even captained the side in a 2-1 win over RC Lens last weekend. However, he has now departed. His exit is likely linked to Ismael Doukouré defying expectations and remaining at the club. It is thought that Omobamidele’s loan switch to Belgium does not include a buy option, although this has not been confirmed.
