In a massive development last night, the Spanish national team officially announced that Real Madrid star Dean Huijsen would be released from the national team camp with immediate effect.
The decision was taken in light of the player’s muscle discomfort and physical setback that prevented him from taking part in the team’s game against Georgia earlier this week.
“As required and prioritising the health and well-being of our player at all times, the RFEF has made the decision to release the player from NT camp,” the official statement read.
The development now means that Huijsen will immediately travel back to Madrid where he will continue his recovery at the Valdebebas.
Spain have one more game in the ongoing international break which is against Turkey, but the defender will thus be unavailable for that fixture since he has been released from the camp.
In one way, Real Madrid will be relieved that Huijsen was released from the squad and not forced to play despite his discomfort for he will now have time to recover from his injury completely.
Needless to say, the saga shows La Roja’s prioritisation of players’ fitness.
Concurrently, however, Xabi Alonso and Co. cannot help but be slightly concerned at Huijsen’s injury record for he returned from a previous injury only late last month in El Clasico.
To be injured once again will raise the alarm bells in Madrid and Los Blancos will hope he is ready to feature for the team’s first game after the break.
So far this season, the 20-year-old has made 10 appearances for the club in La Liga and has overseen two clean sheets for the men in white.
He averages over ten defensive actions and three recoveries per game.
