Manuel Baum guided Augsburg to ninth place in the Bundesliga as interim head coach in 2025/26, and now the Bavarian club have rewarded the German with a permanent contract until 2028.

“Manuel and the coaching staff turned things around during a difficult period in autumn 2025,” explained sporting director Benni Weber. “A strong second half of the season also saw us achieve the third-best Bundesliga finish in Augsburg history. We’re convinced that this arrangement gives us a very good foundation for a successful future together.”

Baum, who replaced Sandro Wagner in December 2025, added: Even though the plans surrounding my role as Head of Development & Football Innovation were different, working with the team, staff and coaches every day over the past few months has been so hugely enjoyable that I’m very keen to continue on the path we’ve started together.

“I’m looking forward to the tasks ahead after the summer break,” said head coach Manuel Baum.”
