After he returned to Barcelona from the Spanish national team camp due to an injury, Dani Olmo was examined by the club’s medical staff earlier today.
And, in a statement, the Catalans have confirmed that Olmo has a soleus muscle injury in his left leg, without any connective tissue damage. Interestingly, though, the club have not provided a specific time of recovery for the playmaker.
“The player Dani Olmo has suffered a muscle injury in the soleus of the left leg, with no connective tissue involvement. The recovery time will depend on the progress,” the statement read.
Olmo travelled to the Spain camp with some muscular fatigue and suffered the injury on Friday, sparking some anger at Barça with the national team’s handling of the issue.
It was initially feared that the 27-year-old’s injury could keep him out of action for 3-4 weeks, effectively ruling him out of the Clasico later this month.
But with tests revealing no major tear, Olmo’s recovery time could be shortened to 2-3 weeks, meaning he could still make it back in time to face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on 26 October, if things go well in his recovery.
What is certain at this point, though, is that the playmaker will miss the upcoming La Liga game against Girona and the UEFA Champions League match versus Olympiacos a few days later.
