With the international break underway, FC Barcelona have several players away on national team duty, while those not called up have been training at the club facilities.
However, one such player, Alejandro Balde, has suffered a hamstring injury – the club has officially announced today.
“Alejandro Balde has suffered a minor injury to the biceps femoris of his left leg during today’s training. His recovery will determine his availability,” the statement read.
Balde has started all three of Barcelona’s first three La Liga games this season and is the undisputed starter at left-back ahead of Gerard Martin and Jofre Torrents.
However, the La Masia graduate was overlooked by Spain manager Luis de la Fuente for their upcoming World Cup qualifying fixtures against Bulgaria and Turkey.
Having stayed behind in Barcelona, Balde has now been sidelined with a minor injury to his left thigh.
At this point, the Catalans have not specified a timeline for his recovery and return, but considering that the statement mentions his injury is minor, one can expect that the defender might be ready in time for the Valencia game after the international break.
Balde joins Gavi and Marc-Andre ter Stegen on the treatment tables at Barcelona.
