FC Barcelona rising superstar Lamine Yamal is already a global sporting icon and has added another feather to his cap at such a young age.
Now, Lamine’s growing list of accomplishments has seen another addition, after he was named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador at just 18 years of age.
The recognition makes the Barcelona sensation one of the youngest ambassadors in the organisation’s history and further highlights how his influence now extends far beyond football.
The appointment also strengthens the historic connection between Barcelona, the Barça Foundation and UNICEF, a relationship that has existed for nearly two decades and remains closely associated with the club’s identity.
Yamal’s selection is not a coincidence. The winger has already collaborated with UNICEF since 2024 through awareness campaigns and initiatives aimed at younger audiences.
In his new role, he will help promote children’s rights, with a particular focus on the right to play, while also supporting children affected by conflicts, natural disasters and humanitarian crises.
For a player who has become a role model for millions of young fans around the world, the appointment feels like a natural next step.
Lamine’s impact is already evident on the pitch, where he has established himself as one of the club’s most important players despite his age.

That said, becoming a UNICEF ambassador is a prestigious achievement at any age, and the fact that it has come so early in his career makes it even more special.
Having come through La Masia, Lamine knows what it is like to be given a chance to play from a young age and to have the right conditions to develop.
At just 18 years old, Yamal is already one of the faces of Barcelona, a key figure for Spain and now one of UNICEF’s youngest global ambassadors.
Barcelona will hope that his rise continues to break new ground, both on and off the pitch.
