Official: Barcelona star signs new long-term contract | OneFootball

La Liga giants Barcelona have this week locked a member of the club’s midfield ranks down to a new contract.

The player in question? Frenkie de Jong.

Midfielder De Jong has of course spent the early weeks of the new season continuing to solidify himself as one of the first names on the team sheet in Catalunya’s capital.

After returning to form under the watch of new head coach Hansi Flick last season, the Dutchman, alongside Pedri, has shone bright from his berth at the base of midfield.

Following years of transfer rumours, De Jong, in turn, recently sat down for a round of talks with Barcelona, regarding a contract extension.

And as alluded to above, on Wednesday, such talks have officially borne fruit.

As per an announcement across Barca’s website and social media platforms, the club’s engine room standout has committed to the club through the summer of 2029:
