FC Barcelona have officially announced that goalkeeper Joan Garcia has undergone successful surgery to address the torn meniscus in his left knee.

Having confirmed the injury on Friday and announced that the 24-year-old summer arrival would undergo arthroscopy, the Blaugrana have now issued an update, revealing that the operation has been performed.

“Joan Garcia underwent surgery this morning at Barcelona Hospital for a torn internal meniscus in his left knee. Dr. Joan Carles Monllau performed an arthroscopy,” the statement read.

As far as his return is concerned, Barcelona reiterate that Garcia is expected to be out for a period of four to six weeks, depending on his recovery.

“Recovery time is confirmed to be between 4 and 6 weeks, depending on the patient’s progress.”

Garcia will now miss a series of important matches for Barcelona, including next week’s UEFA Champions League game against PSG, as well as the Clasico vs Real Madrid in a month.

The hope is for the former RCD Espanyol goalkeeper to return in early November, ahead of a crucial run of fixtures.
