Official: Barcelona’s eight opponents for the league phase of the 2026/27 Champions League | OneFootball

The UEFA Champions League 2026/27 will get underway next month in what will be the third season in the competition’s revamped new format, and Barcelona have learnt their eight opponents for the league phase of the competition.

Like last season, instead of 32 teams, there will be 36 clubs participating in the Champions League, and the normal group stage has been replaced by the ‘league phase’, wherein each team will have to play eight games – four home, four away.

The 36 participating teams have been split into four pots based on their individual coefficient ranking, with the last season’s Champions League winner, PSG, the top seed in Pot 1.

No teams from the same association can be drawn against each other, and no team can face more than two opponents from the same association.

Who are Barcelona facing?

Barcelona, who made it as far as the quarter-finals last season, were placed in Pot 1, along with PSG, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Atletico Madrid.

From this pot, Hansi Flick’s men have drawn Manchester City (H) and PSG (A).

Meanwhile, from Pot 2, which contained Aston Villa, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, AS Roma, Sporting CP, FC Porto, Club Brugge, PSV Eindhoven, and Real Betis, Barça will be facing Villa (H) and Sporting (A).

Pot 3 had Feyenoord, Lille, Bodo/Glimt, Napoli, RB Leipzig, Villarreal, Fenerbahce, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Galatasaray.

From these, Barcelona will be taking on Feyenoord (H) and Galatasaray (A).

Finally, from Pot 4, which contained Slavia Praha, Slovan Bratislava, VfB Stuttgart, AEK Athens, LASK Linz, Como, Lens, Viking, and Sabah, the Blaugrana will lock horns with two debutants Como (H) and Sabah (A), meaning a trip to Azerbaijan beckons.

The league-phase fixture list with match dates and kick-off times will be communicated on Saturday, 29 August.

Having made it as far as the quarter-final last season, Barcelona have made it a top objective to go all the way in the Champions League this time around as the road to Madrid kicks off next month.
