Bennacer joined Milan from Empoli in 2019 and quickly became one of the top performers on the team, playing a pivotal role in winning the Scudetto under Stefano Pioli in 2021-2022.

However, after suffering a knee injury, the Algerian fell out of form. He could not find a place with Milan, pushing to leave on multiple occasions. He played the last 2 seasons on loan at Olympique de Marseille and GNK Dinamo Zagreb but did not stay there.

His story with the Rossoneri now officially comes to a close, as announced by the club:

“Milan can confirm the termination of Ismaël Bennacer’s contract by mutual consent. The Club would like to wish him all the best for the future.”
