Borussia Mönchengladbach have announced that for the second time this season, they have extended the contract of Rocco Reitz until 2028.
On his extension, Reitz said: “Borussia is my second home. I love the club. I love the city. My family and I feel very comfortable here. This contract extension feels perfect for me.” The 21-year-old is a product of the Gladbach academy having risen through the club ranks, whilst also being a season ticket holder at Borussia Park with his family.
This season has been Reitz’s breakout season in the Bundesliga. After a handful of appearances last season, Gerardo Seoane has trusted the midfielder from the start, and Reitz has made himself a key part of the Gladbach midfield. In 19 games this season, the 21-year-old has scored four times and assisted twice.
Gladbach had been so impressed by Reitz’s performances that in September his contract was extended until 2026 but for likely the same reason, Gladbach have extended his contract by another two years until 2028.
With Gladbach being in a transition phase, Reitz will likely be a key piece in the side over the coming years, especially with the likely departure of Manu Koné in the summer, the 21-year-old’s role at Gladbach may become even more important.
