Branco van den Boomen (30) has joined SCO Angers on loan from Ajax Amsterdam until the end of the season.

Van den Boomen’s arrival at the club could now open up the door to a departure for Himad Abdelli. The Algeria international is the subject of an approach from Olympique de Marseille. He already has an agreement on personal terms with Les Phocéens, but there is not yet any agreement between clubs. 

Van den Boomen will bring experience to this Angers midfield. The Dutchman excelled during his time at Toulouse FC, firstly in Ligue 2 and then in Ligue 1, before then making the move to Ajax back in 2023. However, the move back to his native Netherlands has not proven successful. This season, he has played just 45 minutes of football.

He will now look to rediscover his rhythm with Le Sco. He has joined on a straight loan, without a buy option. Van den Boomen’s contract with Ajax runs until the end of next season.
